About World Bee Day
World Bee Day was first observed in 2018 following efforts led by Slovenia and supported by the beekeeping sector. The date, 20 May, marks the 1734 birth of Anton Janša, a pioneer of modern beekeeping. Pollinators are important to farming and natural ecosystems as well as honey production.
